Description

The 6th Annual Swim Around Keppel 2025 (SAK2025) will be held on Great Keppel Island on Friday, September 5th - Saturday, September 6th

Friday 6km swim around The Middle Island.  start ~@12:00. And 1km ~@16:00 (Late ferry on Friday departures GKI @18:20)

A main & unique event, SAK2025 features a circumnavigation-style of Great Keppel Island swim route in tropical waters and covers a total distance of 20km – one of Australia’s longest swimming marathons will take place Saturday, September 6th. ~@9:45 start

SAK2025 offers a few different swim categories – Individual & Tandem Swim for the 6km and 20km events and Team Relay for the 20km (teams of 3 to 5 swimmers, mixed genders are welcome). Persons aged 14 years and over on the 5th of September, 20-25 are eligible to register for the Individual & Tandem 20km SAK2025 event. Persons aged 12 years and over on the 5th of September, 2025 are eligible to register for the team/relay 20km swim, as well as, 6km and shorted distances on Friday & Saturday.

To enter the Individual (20km) event, a person must have previous open water swimming experience and complete an official open water 10km race under 4 hours. For more information please check Event Info.

Due to the nature of this event, all individual swimmers must be accompanied by an assisting vessel. Teams MUST be accompanied by a motorised support boat.  No motorised vessel is required but recommended for an individual swimmer and no SUPs are allowed, unless a swimmer has a motorised support vessel. KISA boats will be present and stationary every ~1.5 km throughout the course, and numerous KISA PWCs will be navigating. Course markers/buoys might be used.

Individual swimmers and teams will commence at the same time, ~09:45 at The Spit on Saturday, 6th of September and proceed in (to be determent) direction around the island to coincide with tidal movement. The swim will officially finish at 5:15pm.The Presentation and After Party will be held at the GKI Hideaway Island Bar & Bistro at 5:45pm. Late boat departure on the day is available, but…why would you want to leave..?
